Electrum Bitcoin RPC Adapter extension • dashed-slug.net

Allows your Wallets plugin to interface with the Electrum Bitcoin wallet.

⚠ WARNING: The Electrum adapter currently has a number of issues that I have not found the time to address. My recommendation to all new users is to either use Bitcoin core for now, or one of the cloud wallet adapters.

The Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets WordPress plugin by default lets you connect a Bitcoin core node with your WordPress site. If you wish to interface with an Electrum wallet, disable the built-in Bitcoin adapter and install this coin adapter extension.

Advantages over the Bitcoin core wallet

The Electrum wallet does not require downloading the entire blockchain. This saves you storage space and bandwidth.
You can easily keep the seed of your entire wallet on paper.

Disadvantages over the Bitcoin core wallet

The current implementation is marked as beta. This means that it has been tested but might still have some issues.
One known issue is regarding the address gap limit. If you run a site with many users, you might need to extend the gap limit manually.

Installation

Install the Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets plugin by following the installation instructions.
Install and activate this plugin if you have not already done so.
On your server, run electrum setconfig rpcport 7777 and then electrum daemon start to start the Electrum daemon.
You can choose to set a different port if you wish.
You might need to do electrum create if you have not already created a wallet. Load your wallet with electrum load_wallet. Refer to the Electrum documentation for details.
From the left-hand side menu, go to Wallets and then choose the Electrum (BTC) adapter.
Set up the RPC API settings to connect to your Electrum daemon. If you have set up the settings correctly, then on the Wallets adapter list you will see the status of the Electrum adapter change to responding.
To make sure that you are receiving updates for this plugin extension and for all the premium dashed-slug plugins that you have installed, you will need to activate your installation.After registering at dashed-slug.net you will have received an activation code in your e-mail.
